Overview
Optimized for workpieces up to 1000mm, the SG403 CNC Whirling Machine is designed for high-efficiency production of precision ball screws. Its compact footprint doesn’t compromise on power, delivering high-torque C-axis performance and micron-level motion control via Renishaw encoders. This model is highly recommended for manufacturers of high-end medical devices and precision small-scale laboratory equipment. This CNC Ball Screw Whirling Machine is engineered with a rear-mounted vertical guideway, significantly enhancing machining rigidity while optimizing chip evacuation. The machine features a fully enclosed structure with stainless steel telescopic covers, ensuring durability and a clean workspace. All hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical lines are systematically routed for a streamlined and industrial-grade layout.
Drive & Closed-Loop Control System
The core whirling motion relies on the synchronized interpolation of the C-axis (spindle rotation) and Z-axis (linear feed) to generate precise spiral trajectories.
- C-Axis: Driven by a servo motor through a planetary reducer and dual-stage anti-backlash gears, combined with a high-precision rotary encoder for full closed-loop control.
- X & Z Axes: Both axes utilize precision linear scales (mounted away from the operator on the Z-axis) coupled with servo motors to establish a complete closed-loop system, guaranteeing exact positioning and radial feed accuracy.
- Compensation: The CNC software includes advanced base-length pitch compensation and diameter compensation functions to eliminate machining deviations.
Clamping & Auxiliary Support
Designed for high-precision long shaft milling, the clamping and support mechanisms are highly dynamic:
- Hydraulic Collets: Secures the workpiece efficiently, compatible with collet specifications ranging from 16, 20, 25, 32, 40, 50, 63, 80, to 100.
- Auto-Centering Servo Clamps: Positioned on both sides of the whirling mechanism, these clamps adjust clamping force via servo motor current, maximizing rigidity near the cutting head.
- Dynamic Auxiliary Support: Utilizes two sets of servo-driven cylinders that automatically retract when the carriage approaches and re-engage once it passes. An integrated air-blow system clears chips from the supports to prevent surface damage.
Whirling Head & Milling Process
The whirling head is powered by a variable-frequency motor via belt reduction, with speeds precisely controlled by the system program. The helix angle is automatically adjusted via a servo motor and reducer. The machine allows for a minimum distance of ≤260mm from the headstock chuck to the cutting center, and ≤200mm from the cutting center to the rear clamp, maximizing material utilization by enabling full-length continuous milling before segmentation. An integrated chain-plate chip conveyor efficiently transports machined chips to the collection box.

FAQ
Do you provide customized solutions for your whirling machines?
– Yes. We can customize core parameters such as cooling methods, machining lengths, and other specifications based on your specific production requirements.
What materials can the SG series model process?
– The SG Series are designed to handle high-hardness and difficult-to-machine materials, including high-strength alloy steel and stainless steel.
How do you ensure accuracy during long-stroke machining?
– We utilize pitch diameter and stroke deviation compensation technology. The system compensates point-by-point at set reference lengths, effectively eliminating physical deviations and ensuring consistent precision across the entire stroke.
What are the energy consumption and maintenance cycles of the equipment?
– The power consumption is approximately 15kW/h. The recommended maintenance cycle is every 6 months. Under normal maintenance conditions, the design lifespan of the machine exceeds 8 years.
What is your service response time?
– We offer a 2-year warranty and 24/7 online technical support. If on-site troubleshooting is required, we guarantee a 48-hour localized on-site service or comprehensive remote assistance.
